life

Mark Pilgrim is gonna disconnect for a few days. What to do? Mark asks for suggestions. Here are mine..

  • read trashy novels
  • fly a kite
  • go bowling with friends you haven't seen in a while
  • learn a song to sing; then sing it at the mall
  • go dancing
  • take a two or three hour walk without headphones (bundle up, it's freezing in North Carolina)
  • write 3 poems a day - on paper
  • go to a religious service of a denomination or faith you've never attended
  • update your CPR training
  • hug 10 strangers without an explanation
  • eat a dish you've never tried before
  • learn a drinking song, then teach it to the drinkers in a college bar
  • call the mayor of your city for an interview for your weblog. take notes on paper.
  • volunteer 3 hours at a foodbank
  • find a cow and pet it
  • crash a wedding, bar mitzvah, or other family event
  • go valentines day shopping
  • touch a dead body
  • interview for a fast food job

Should have plenty to blog about when you get back.

Congrats to blogland's own Reverse Cowgirl, Susannah Breslin! Terrific lineup for Live From the Blogosphere! Might be worth a weekend trip to L.A.'s Chinatown on 15 February.

Moderated by Xeni Jardin: My question for the panel:

Does blogging get you laid?

Go deeper, Xeni...

  • Leisure Suit LarryDoes blogging extend your social network in useful ways?
  • Does it help you communicate what you want? What you can offer?
  • Does the process help you understand yourself? What you want and what you can offer?
  • Does blogging affect your reputation and those you might hook up with?
  • Will blogging for your love life mess you up at work? Has blogging your love life ever gotten someone fired or hired? Promoted or demoted?
  • Does blogging get you laid more than instant messaging and email?
  • Can blogs twitch your pheremone receptors? Has a blog ever made you go, "oooh, I want to be with that person"?
  • Does blogging give you freedom to try on other personas like masks? Can the medium give you enough intensity, touch you in enough of the right ways to make you horny?
  • What would the blogosphere need to compete with Match.com?
  • Can blogging help you express your sexuality better or differently than otherwise?
  • Will mediablogging (audio, video) help you get laid?
  • Does blogging help you sustain personal relationships?

Love, lust, intimacy, belonging. Primal forces driving technology.

And this is the panel to ask.
