This would actually help in the whole e-mailing people an article thing too.

Display the permanent link by the article in the "home" page.

So many times i have had to go to the web site even though I had radio open in front of me just to get the permanent link to an article i had written to, I could AIM or e-mail someone the link.

Building on this.

  • Include content from the item, day, and category templates in the RSS feed.
    • Permalinks, for example.
    • Some item meta-data, like the categories to which this item was posted, provides valuable context for understanding the post.  
    • For multi-authored sites with blended feeds, this avoids confusion.
  • Link in news reader to "IM This Item".
    • ask which IM's to launch, and whom to IM
    • paste item into message
    • perhaps combine both automatically, without human intervention
