You wrote,

Amos Michelson, the CEO of Creo, told me that every employee in his firm is required to take a course in what he calls "economic thinking." Great idea. Even simple concepts in basic microeconomics go a long way to understanding some of the fundamental shifts going on today.

So right.

Professor Magaddino doesn't know he changed my life. His micro class shaped my political philosophy, helped me understand how all the social sciences complement each other. I studied formal decision theory for five years before his class. After, I took more econ than I needed for the insights they shed on all the other disciplines.

This is a joy of a broad college education.

Every discipline comes with its own world view and tools for thinking.

With a sufficiently general education, you learn how to pick up new paradigms quickly, and the ones you know give you a rich toolkit for tackling many kinds of problems and for approaching each problem from many directions.

Think of it as applied Imagination training.

It doesn't need to happen in a campus setting.

That's one of the virtues of Peter Senge's learning organization; you learn continuously in your work context. The Fieldbook site is a great reference to this body of knowledge.

What role might klogging play in organizational learning?
