Study of Spanish-Speaking Blogosphere

Blogómetro crawls more than 2000 Spanish language weblogs. It was developed by Fernando Tricas of Universidad de Zaragoza, Victor Ruiz, and Juan J. Merelo-Guervós of Universidad de Granada.

The team wrote a study: Do we live in a small world? Measuring the Spanish-speaking Blogosphere (PDF, 640KB). Some findings:

  • The number of blogs is growing:
    • November 2002 - 943 blogs
    • January 2003 - 1299 blogs
    • May 2003 - 2119 blogs
  • Averaging 1.14 new posts per day per blog
  • Blogging is a weekday (workday?) activity.
  • Some blogs bridge the English and Spanish blogospheres. So memes cross between the two networks, otherwise isolated.
I'm eager for their blogtalk presentation.
