3.5 million SixApart active users

SEATTLE: Anil Dash said Six Apart's internal numbers show:

• There are 1 million active MovableType and TypePad users.
• When you combine all the 6A properties, including LiveJournal, there are 6.5 million registered and 3.5 million active users.

Not bad for round numbers. 6A rarely reports TypePad subscriptions, and has only a vague idea of how many blogs are running non-paying versions of Movable Type. So we still don't know how popular TP is in its various incarnations. Also not clear is if the 1 million MT/TP number includes MovableType sites operated by hosting partners (ISPs running MT), by publishing concerns like About.com that use MT as a content management system, and within enterprise firewalls.
